The Finance committee coordinates bookkeeping and develops and manages the business plan and financial forecasting.

The Governance committee ensures that Greene Hill complies with local, state, and federal law as well as with the Co-op’s own bylaws.
The committee conducts Board-member elections annually and as needed. It also assists with obtaining necessary permits and licenses.
Governance seeks to maximize organizational capacity through occasional formal strategic planning meetings, ongoing informal project management efforts, and a variety of process suggestions.
The IT committee keeps most of the Co-op’s information systems running. This includes:
Server hosting for the public and member websites on greenehillfood.coop (Apache on Ubuntu). Member database hosting, maintenance, and administration (CiviCRM).
Various tools and scripts for worktracking and integration with Humanity.
In store: Revel POS system, wired and wi-fi networks.
Communication tools: Google Groups, email accounts at greenehillfood.coop.
We need help with many tasks, including maintaining membership database, augmenting open-source systems to work for our Co-op, and computer maintenance. If you have experience and interest in these areas, please contact us.
Signage & Collateral
The Marketing committee manages the Co-op’s communications, ensuring our values and mission are clearly expressed and the Co-op brand stays active and relevant in the store, online, and in the community.
The Marketing committee designs in-store signage and marketing collateral, and collaborates with other committees to creatively engage the Co-op community.
We’re looking for skilled graphic designers, strategists, writers and copywriters, and front-end developers to join our team..
The Membership committee oversees all member-owner account procedures and details: trial and new member signups, membership payments, Humanity (work-shift) processes, the monthly orientation session and any other ongoing membership concerns.
We work with other committees to coordinate membership drives, member-based marketing initiatives and general database maintenance and updates. We also work with all member-owners to find appropriate work-shift roles for members, whether on a committee or in the store.

The Merchandising committee identifies and fulfills the diverse grocery needs of our community.
Based on Membership buying patterns and requests we work with our vendors to provide the fullest shopping experience possible as the Co-op grows.
We take into account buying principles that adhere to our Co-op mission, and strive to work with local established food co-ops, farmers, distributors, and equipment vendors.
In addition to deciding which items to carry and from which suppliers, we also negotiate pricing, coordinate deliveries and payments, and manage store inventory, layout, and shrinkage.

The Operations committee is responsible for store planning, construction projects, and in-store operations.
Operations handles the store's physical-space needs; it led the effort to build the Co-op's check-out desk, bulk shelves, bathroom, and more. Operations also implemented our refrigeration and other systems in our store.

The Outreach Committee has three goals:
To raise awareness of the Greene Hill Food Co-op in Fort Greene, Clinton Hill, Bed-Stuy, Crown Heights, and Prospect Heights;
To ensure that the Co-op membership represents the diverse population of its surrounding neighborhoods; and
To address possible social, cultural, and economic barriers to joining the Co-op.
We strive to meet these goals by tabling and canvassing throughout the surrounding neighborhoods, and collaborating with local community organizations and businesses.
Other Outreach responsibilities for the Co-op include organizing quarterly open houses for non-members and other events to help build membership.
The Greene Hill Food Co-op is committed to improving access to affordable and healthy food. To that effect, the Outreach committee includes a Food Justice team, which focuses on privilege and inequality, barriers to food access, and developing strategies to create a more inclusive environment at the Co-op.
The Education group works to educate the community about healthy and sustainable food practices and lifestyle through healthy food store tours, and on-site food demos and presentations. Some benefits of working on our committee:
